Béchir Boussandel
As part of its partnership with Fondation Montresso*, GALERIE FARAH FAKHRI was delighted to welcome artist Béchir Boussandel for a residency. The works created during his time in Abidjan were presented in the gallery’s group exhibition Realms of the Imaginary, held from 25 September to 24 October 2025.
During his stay, Boussandel infused his work with the vibrant energy and colours of Abidjan — photographing the city’s daily bustle and incorporating into his canvases the silhouettes of cars, motorbikes, and passers-by heading to work. These inscriptions, embedded in the material, anchor the works into a personal narrative of his experience as a visitor. Thus, Boussandel continued to question how environments, objects, and gestures intersect to create a sense of belonging.
