Who are we

 

  • GALERIE FARAH FAKHRI is a contemporary art gallery based in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, founded in 2023 by Farah Fakhri, an Ivorian collector-dealer of Middle Eastern heritage.

  • The gallery brings together emerging and established artists, with a focus on practices connected to the Global South and broader international contexts, supporting ambitious artistic positions that engage with contemporary cultural, social and material transformations.

     

    The gallery develops a research-led programme grounded in sustained engagement with artists and shaped by thematic lines of inquiry that evolve over time. In 2024, GALERIE FARAH FAKHRI presented a major solo exhibition by Malian artist Abdoulaye Konaté, marking an important moment in the development of its programme. In early 2026, the gallery presented a solo exhibition by Moffat Takadiwa, following an extended artistic residency in Abidjan developed in collaboration with the gallery.

     

    Through its evolving programme, GALERIE FARAH FAKHRI creates connections between distinct artistic perspectives, geographies and generations. Its curatorial frameworks provide a space for individual practices to resonate with broader cultural, social and relational questions, while preserving the specificity of each artist’s position.

     

    Artist-centred at its core, GALERIE FARAH FAKHRI has operated a residency programme in the heart of Abidjan since its inception, providing artists with time and space for research, experimentation and production. Through its exhibitions, residencies and public programmes, the gallery contributes to a more polyphonic global art discourse.

    ABOUT THE FOUNDER

    Through a structured curatorial direction, Farah Fakhri situates the gallery as a point of connection between local contexts and broader transnational narratives. Operating across exhibition-making, research, and cultural mediation, she supports both emerging and established artists through exhibitions, residencies, researches and collaborations.

    She maintains close relationships with curators, collectors, and cultural professional across Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. Her work contributes to the increased visibility of artists from these regions while advocating for more balanced and rigorous forms of representation.

    Through GALERIE FARAH FAKHRI, she continues to develop a platform grounded in long-term engagement with artists, with a focus on research-led practices and sustained international dialogue.
