Residency

  • GALERIE FARAH FAKHRI hosts residency programmes, inviting artists from the continent and the African diaspora to immerse themselves in the vibrant artistic community of Ivory Coast.

  • About

Providing a springboard for the development of their artistic practice through rigorous research opportunities, each residency results in the creation of a new body of work, presented either at the gallery or as part of an off-site project. The programme aims to position local artists, artists from the African continent, the African diaspora, and the Global South in dialogue with international audiences and creative networks.

Gallery founder, Farah Fakhri, envisions expanding the gallery beyond its walls, developing off-site projects where established artists are showcased alongside the most innovative emerging practices.

“When I founded my residency programme in 2022, my intention was to establish an infrastructure that nurtures ongoing dialogue between artists from the continent and those from the diaspora. Opening a space dedicated to contemporary art from Africa has long been an ambition of mine, and my hope is that it evolves into a cultural hub for creative exchange, networking, and artistic support within Africa and the international community.”
    — Farah Fakhri

The gallery is committed to fostering cultural exchange through its residency and educational programmes, serving as a dynamic hub for artists, collectors, and art enthusiasts.

Please note: GALERIE FARAH FAKHRI does not accept unsolicited artist submissions.

The Curatorial Board of the GALERIE FARAH FAKHRI Residency programme is a committee dedicated to enriching our artistic initiatives. This committee is part of our desire to federate and surround ourselves with informed advice from collectors and art professionals.

The aim of this committee is to advise and participate in the curatorial activities, programming and residencies of the GALERIE FARAH FAKHRI. The members of this committee are ambassadors for the gallery and will bring a diversity of expertise and perspectives. Members will aim to build bridges between the residencies and other stakeholders such as artists, collectors, institutions and art fairs.

We firmly believe that this committee reinforces our commitment to artistic excellence and provides new opportunities for emerging and established artists to present their work to an international audience.
