JOANA CHOUMALI WITH THE PUPILS OF ÉCOLE SÉVIGNÉ
LA TERRE N’A QU’UN SOLEIL MAY 2025GALERIE FARAH FAKHRI welcomed a kindergarten class from École Sévigné, this invitation turned into a moment of wonder, creativity, and unforgettable exchange.
The children discovered La Terre n’a qu’un Soleil, a solo exhibition in which Choumali reveals herself through embroidered photographs that reflect on emotion, memory, and the quiet strength of renewal. Her series Alba’hian, meaning “the first light of the day” in Agni, explores the idea of sunrise as a daily rebirth and a moment of peace.
During the visit, Joana took time to guide the children through her world, responding to their spontaneous observations with warmth and generosity. Their enthusiasm was met with equal curiosity from the artist, creating a lively and genuine exchange.
The session continued with a drawing workshop inviting the pupils to reinterpret the sun—inspired by what they had seen. With crayons and bright ideas, each child created their own version of the morning light: playful suns with smiling faces, golden rays, and vibrant patterns filled the room.
“It’s always meaningful to witness how children respond to art with such honesty and joy,” Choumali shared.
This moment of dialogue and creativity reflects the gallery’s commitment to nurturing early artistic encounters and making contemporary art accessible to younger audiences.
We extend our sincere thanks to École Sévigné, the young participants, and Joana Choumali for a morning full of light and imagination.
