Professeur Henri N’Koumo
Henri N’Koumo, born in 1965, initially studied literature before turning to the arts. He holds a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Art History from the University of Cocody and a Diploma of Advanced Specialised Studies in Museology. For many years, he worked in the culture department of Fraternité Matin (Abidjan), where he championed the work of numerous national and international visual artists.
His current research focuses on the writing of art history in Africa, with a particular emphasis on Côte d’Ivoire. Henri N’Koumo previously directed the Musée Municipal de Cocody and curated the Côte d’Ivoire Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in both 2019 and 2022. He currently heads the “Département du Livre” at the Ministry of Culture and Francophonie in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
